Cubitus Varus

It’s a Post Traumatic deformity of elbow developed due to mal united supracondylar fracture of Humerus bone. it is also know as Gun Stock deformity as the upper limb looks like the stock of the gun.
Supracondylar fracture of the Humerus is the commonest fracture in paediatric age group.
There are 2 types of supracondylar fracture.
Flexion type ( very Less occurrence)
Extension Type (More Common)
Extension type are Further classified into 3 types
Type 1 ( Undisplaced)
Type 2 ( Angulated and / Or rotated)
Type 3 (Completely Displaced and rotated)
Only Type 1 and certain Type 2 fractures can be managed without surgery by Plaster
All type 3 and most of the type 2 fractures requires accurate reduction and K wire fixation.
Failure to reduce the fracture or redisplacement after reduction may lead to mal union and ultimately the deformity at the elbow .
